Terse version (recommended for experienced users)

The Catalog Viewer allows the user to browse the contents of ADC catalogs or journal tables on the web. Only ASCII tables can currently be browsed with this tool.

Functionality:

  • Browse: Subset and sort user-selected tables.
  • Plot: Create scatter plots of those tables (via CatsEye).
  • Observations: Find available observational data on selected catalog objects or sky regions (via IMPReSS.)
  • Workspace: Save and work with multiple tables in a personal work area (requires cookie). Full description...

How to select catalogs: (choose one at right)

  1. ID Number: Enter the catalog or journal table ID directly if you already know it.
  2. Search: Do a keyword search on the descriptions of ADC catalogs and journal tables.
  3. Browse the ADC holdings.
  4. Workspace: Access your personal work area directly, if you've created tables with the Viewer in the last 5 days.


TUTORIAL: Follow an example session from browsing a selected catalog to acquiring data on catalog objects.

AEQ: ADC External Query - Allows you to access the catalogs non-interactively, through a single GET request.

1. Catalog/Journal table ID Number
