Abstract:
The Amateur Sky Survey (TASS) is a loose confederation of amateur and
professional astronomers. We describe the design and construction of
our Mark III system, a set of wide-field drift-scan CCD cameras which
monitor the celestial equator down to 13th magnitude in several
passbands. We explain the methods by which images are gathered,
processed, and reduced into lists of stellar positions and magnitudes.
Over the period 1996 October to 1998 November, we compiled a large
database of photometric measurements. One of our results is the
tenxcat catalog, which contains measurements on the standard
Johnson-Cousins system for 367,241 stars; it contains links to the
light curves of these stars as well.

                                     Cat. <II/125>
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note (1): This name is usually the ID of the star in the GSC version 1.1
(Cat. <I/220>) when starting by GSC.
If there is no matching GSC star, a name based on J2000 position is
supplied; in order to make this last name into a real IAU
designation, one must add the prefix "TASS J", for example,
    TASS J023553.2-020325

Note (2): This is the unweighted average of all valid magnitude
measurements of the star in the passband.

Note (3): the mean error is blank for a star with just 1 magnitude datum.

Note (4): if this flag is 1, his star's magnitude values are not
corrected for color terms (usually because it was not observed
    in both V and I).
If this flag is 0, the star's magnitude has been corrected for
    color terms.

Note (5): "spurious pairs" are non-existing pairs.
The pixel size of the Mark III images being about 14arcsec, detections
which fall within 15 arcsec of an existing entry should be merged in
    the database.
flag2 is set to 1 when multiple entries of such "spurious pairs"
          were effectively merged.
flag3 is set to 1 when multiple entries of such "spurious pairs"
could not be merged. The other member of the pair must also
appear in the catalog, and its entry will also have its
          flag3 set to 1.
