ADC_Keywords: Radio sources

Description:
The 54579 sources of the 87GB catalogue are stored in two files,
    with B1950 coordinates (b1950.dat) and J2000 coordinates (j2000.dat).
On Unix workstations, a simple fold command can be used to transform the
FITS files into plain ascii files with format:

Abstract:
The 91m telescope in Green Blank was used during 1987 October to map
6.0sr of the sky in the [0,+75]degrees declination band at 4.85GHz. We
present the 87GB catalog of 54579 discrete sources with angular sizes
less than about 10.5arcmin and stronger than S about 25mJy derived
from these maps. The catalog positions and flux densities have been
corrected for known map biases. Their estimated rms uncertainties were
verified by comparison with more accurate positions and flux densities
available for some sources. The 4.85GHz normalized source counts
S^5/2^.n(S) between 25mJy and 10Jy were obtained and agree well with
evolutionary models based on independent data.

Historical Notes:
    *30-Nov-1992: First archived at CDS
*04-Oct-1994: The FITS files have been converted to standard ascii files.
    *02-Feb-2002: j2000.fih, SIMPLE.fih, b1950.fih files removed from
byte-by-byte description. Corrected File summary name
                  'f2000.fih' to 'j2000.fih' and renamed 'readme.txt' to
'notes.txt'. Corrections by Brian Thomas [ADC]

  Programs:
Issuing on Unix workstations the command "make" in this directory should
normally be enough to generate the search programs and their related data
files (these programs use plain ascii files B1950.xxH and J2000.xxH with the
above format, where xx stands for the hour of right ascension from 00 to
    23).
