Description:
   The original working list contained approximately 6800 stars. These
   included the usual clock and azimuth stars, all FK3 stars south of
   -20deg., most stars in the GC brighter than 8.5mag. and lying between
   -30deg. and -52deg or near the south pole, and a number of stars south
   of -80deg. specially selected to serve as standards for the reduction of
   the photographic zone observations for the final section of the "Cape
   Photographic Catalogue for 1950". Later, at the request of Professor
   Brouwer, some 400 stars were added to provide, with those already
   included, a sufficient number of evenly spaced stars between -29.5deg.
   and -40deg. for the reduction of astrometric plates taken with a Yale
   Observatory camera in Australia. At the same time, 65 stars south of
   -30deg. taken from the FKSZ list were added. The other 221 stars south
   of -30deg. in this list were already included or had been well observed
   with the Reversible Transit Circle during the previous ten years.
