Data Submission Guidelines The ADC accepts submissions of professional-quality astronomical data for archiving and distribution to the astronomical community. We will accept the data in almost any reasonable form; the data can be sent via e-mail or made available to us on a world readable anonymous FTP site. In addition the ADC can provide write access to our anonymous FTP site.

To be considered for inclusion in the ADC's collection, data must have been accepted for publication in a refereed scientific journal or an article must be published in the "Bulletin d'Information de CDS". (See http://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/ Bull.html).

To accompany the data, we request a document in ASCII which follows the format used by the Centre de Données astronomique de Strasbourg (CDS). Not only does preparing the document in this form make interchanges between the two data centers easier, but CDS has written a substantial amount of software which permits easy checking of the catalogs and automatic conversion to FITS format. Although the description appears lengthy, we find it rather easy to follow. Please address your questions, comments and submissions to webmaster@adc.astro.umd.edu.

The standards adopted for the documentation of astronomical catalogues is described in CDS Bulletin #44, January, 1994, p19. See the updated draft version of the standards, Standard Description for Astronomical Catalogs. A template for the document with modifications covering the ADC needs is as follows:
